Prenatal Yoga Video Detail
Yoga is a great way to help moms-to-be stay in shape during pregnancy.
"It increases strength and flexibility. But it also improves circulation and it also improves balance," said Kelly O'Connell, owner of Yoga One.
Prenatal yoga also works on breathing. It "will help a mom to be relaxed which is a really good skill to have during labor, delivery, and of course motherhood."
Prenatal yoga is also great for those who already have a strong yoga practice.
"You have to realize that you're not gonna be able to do everything the way you were doing it before. And as the pregnancy progresses, you'll need to add more and more modifications," said O'Connell.
If you are expecting, the first thing you want to do is let your yoga instructor know you are pregnant.
"It definitely has been challenging because I've been very tired, but I know the benefits it has towards easier pregnancy and just helping with labor so of course I'm going to keep it up," said Kristen Pratte, a student and expectant mom.
As women get further along in pregnancy, you might want to use props like blocks or straps.
